Can NRIs buy residential property in India?

Yes. Under FEMA rules, NRIs and OCI cardholders can buy residential and commercial property in India without RBI approval. Agricultural land, plantations and farmhouses are not allowed.

How can an NRI pay for a property?

Payments must come through normal banking channels: an NRE, NRO or FCNR(B) account in India, or inward remittance from abroad. Payments cannot be made in foreign currency or traveller's cheques.

Can NRIs get a home loan in India?

Yes. Most Indian banks offer NRI home loans, typically up to 75–80% of the property value, repaid from NRE/NRO accounts. We connect you with partner banks.

Do I need to visit India to buy?

No. We offer live video site visits, and you can sign through a registered Power of Attorney given to a trusted person in India for the agreement and registration.

What about tax when I sell?

Capital gains tax applies, and the buyer deducts TDS when purchasing from an NRI. Gains can be repatriated within RBI limits. Speak to a tax adviser for your specific case.
